A national carbon bill is now being sponsored by 27 House Members: Energy Innovation Act HR763, which will reduce US carbon emissions 90% in 30 yrs (40% in the next 12). It exceeds the Clean Power Plan and Paris Climate goals. It is a steadily rising fee for companies extracting fossil fuels, starting at $15 per metric ton of Co2, and the collected fees are returned to American households, monthly. Exxon and ConocoPhilips supports this because they suspect more onerous climate policy, at least this one is predicable, with uniform increases for them. Importantly this policy will not affect the ability for us to litigate based on greenhouse gas emissions. Needed now is public support. Write our senators.
