&lt;p&gt;I have some experience working in a BSL-3 lab (at Cornell).  I also know some of the players featured in your article. I don’t understand the position, or perhaps lack of position of Drs. Fauci and Collins. &lt;/p&gt;
&lt;p&gt;I think that Trump’s early pronouncements that the virus was cooked up in a Chinese lab, calling it the “China virus” and his obvious racism, turned many people off. The actual science behind the idea was therefore never considered.  At least that is what happened to myself and some of my colleagues.&lt;/p&gt;]]></description>
