/home/wpurdemo/resistancesuffolk/wp-content/mu-plugins We would like to update you regarding where we stand in the 4-year-long process of getting the South Fork Wind Farm approved, built and operational. Regarding NY State Article 7 Proceedings, a yearlong public comment session has terminated with about 70 “interveners” many of whom tried to slow down the process. A final decision for the Certificate of Environmental Compatibility and Public Need is expected by end of March. The federal BOEM process is wrapping up too. The following graph shows where we are: Many of you have asked how to help support the South Fork Wind Farm. One thing you can do this coming week is to join a ZOOM call managed by BOEM. It is educational as BOEM officials will present the entire project. It is also an opportunity to give an oral (and/or written) commentary in support of renewable energy and SFWF in particular. Several of us took part in BOEM’s first two ZOOM events earlier this week. Would you participate next week? Dear friends of WWW,

The Trustees have also voted to lease the beach area for the cable landing to Orsted/Eversource. See the East Hampton Town website and the East Hampton Star.
We are in the late phases of BOEM’s environmental and technical reviews after which there will be a decision on COP (construction and operations plan) approval.

Zeldin’s Record
According to his Feb. 13 letter to the East Hampton Star, Paul Giardina is a “proud” and “unabashed supporter” of Congressman Lee Zeldin, who Giardina believes “stands up for core American values.”
So what are the values reflected in Zeldin’s record? His 2016 environmental votes are so toxic he merited a rating of only 8 percent from the League of Conservation Voters. He voted for the American Health Care Act, which would have taken health care coverage away from millions; he’s expressed support for a budget that would blow up the deficit and slash Medicare and Social Security; he refused to help the victims of Hurricane Harvey; he opposes Planned Parenthood and has voted to limit reproductive choice; he supports allowing out-of-state gun owners to violate our state’s ban on concealed carry; his votes align with Trump’s agenda 92 percent of the time, and he believes Steve Bannon “got a bad rap.”
While Paul Giardina may find those positions admirable, I believe the voters of East Hampton do not. I urge you to vote for Jeff Bragman, who will make decisions for our town based on values we do respect, among them: protecting our environment, providing affordable housing, preserving our unique historical character, and promoting an economy that works for all.
